Forklift Fuel System - The fuel systems job is to provide your engine with the diesel or gasoline it needs to be able to run. If whatever of the fuel system parts breaks down, your engine will not run right. There are the main parts of the fuel system listed below:

Fuel Tank: The fuel tank holds the fuel. The fuel from the gas station pump, moves from the tank travels downward the gas hose into your tank. Within the tank there is a sending unit. This is what tells the gas gauge how much gas is in the tank.

Fuel Pump: In the majority of newer cars, the fuel pump is usually located within the fuel tank. Several older vehicles have the fuel pump attached to the engine or placed on the frame rail among the tank and the engine. If the pump is on the frame rail or in the tank, then it is electric and works with electricity from your cars' battery, whereas fuel pumps which are attached to the engine make use of the motion of the engine to be able to pump the fuel.

Fuel Filter: Clean fuel is essential for engine performance and overall engine life. Fuel injectors have small openings that can block effortlessly. Filtering the fuel is the only way this can be prevented. Filters could be found either before or after the fuel pump and in several instances both places.

Fuel Injectors: Most domestic cars made after the year 1986, came from the factory with fuel injection. A computer control opens the fuel injectors to allow fuel into the engine, that replaced the carburator who's job originally was to perform the mixing of the air and fuel. This has resulted in lower emission overall and better fuel economy. The fuel injector is essentially a small electric valve that opens closes with an electric signal. By injecting the fuel close to the cylinder head, the fuel stays atomized, or within small particles, and is able to burn better when ignited by the spark plug.

Carburetors: Carburetors have the job of taking the fuel and mixing it with the air without whatever involvement from a computer. Carburetors require frequent rebuilding and retuning even if they are simple to work. This is one of the main reasons the newer vehicles on the market have done away with carburetors rather than fuel injection.
